It was in the year 1949 and in Venice, a sea city, some people sharing the passion of mountaineering used to meet every now and then in the quarter of Cannaregio in order to sing some of the songs that were in the repertoire of the "S.A.T." chorus from Trento (the most ancient and well-know chorus of folk choral music in Italy)

After a short time these people became a "choral group" that joined the S.O.S.A.V. (the Workers Society of Venetians Skiers Mountaineering) which was a subsection of C.A.I. (Club alpino Italiano). It was the beginning of "Coro Marmolada of Venice", whose public debut take place on December 7th at the "Ridotto" Theatre in Venice.

The first chorus director was Giorgio Favero until 1954, when a young baritone, who was quite familiar with music and had already been working with Giorgio at the preparation of songs, replaced him: his name is Lucio Finco and since that time he has always been the Chorus director.

In the years between 1955 and 1964 the Chorus went through a difficult period because many chorus members had to leave the group. As a matter of fact the Chorus was made only of 4 people: the twins Roberto and Lorenzo Bettiolo, Enzo Scarpa and Giovanni Manzato

After that critical time the director Lucio Finco succeeded in reassembling 28 people and they started to make rehersals first at the "Frari" Theatre and later on at the Church "Madonna dell'Orto".

In October 1965 the new group made his debout at the "Scuola Grande S. Teodoro" in Venice

From then onwards the group has made a lot of concerts, having a series of successes in Italy as well as abroad.

In 1999 the chorus had finally got 50 years old...
